27 Mar Missing a Deadline
The deadline for the World Canine Freestyle Organization (WCFO) will come and go and I will not be submitting a video. We are just not ready. I am a little dissapointed and keep wondering about the what ifs:
• what if my routine was simpler?
• what if I had practiced at the doggie daycare more instead of in my kitchen?
• what if it hadn’t been 4 months of bitter cold, and I could have practiced outdoors?
• what if I had known about the deadline sooner?
I only realized the other day that the IADL daycare space wasn’t big enough for filming the routine (minimum requirement is 1800 square ft).
That being said, there is another deadline in June (musicaldogsport.org) and I know we will be ready. I will submit one for Tyson and D. Our routines are almost done and I have a couple months to polish. I am looking forward to the polishing stuff because that’s the real challenge as a trainer. Better cuing, faster responses, tighter spinning, etc. When I was practicing last night, a few of the staff at IADL were giving feedback. I didn’t realize that one of them was a professional dancer. She already gave me some excellent tips. Just a few of the things I need to improve:
Delilah needs to work on heeling while we walk back, she is turning her bum out. Our jump heel move needs some help. Both dogs spins and twirls are not clean enough and my hand signal needs to be consistent. The ending for Tysons’s dance desperately needs help. Also, I need to face the camera more. Alright, so there’s so work to do…where are my doggies?
