03 Apr Olive Lost and FOUND!!!
Our friend Sara lost her dog at High Park on Friday at noon. Animal control told us that cops had stopped traffic on the gardiner as a brown dog ran across. We believed this to be her. We spent the evening looking in ditches and holes around the lakeshore and Jamieson fearing the worst. She didn’t turn up. The next day we postered everywhere. I somehow ended up in charge of telling people where to poster. Knowing she was by the lake we did east and west to all the local parks, and central to the exhibition and trinity. There was a apparently at sighting at Queen and Brock yesterday at 4. Another one at Trinity at 7 am this morning. Today Sara found Olive in the alley beside her apt. We hear about dogs finding their way home from incredible distances. This is Olive’s story. She’s only 1.5 years old but this little girl managed to cross a highway, and still find her way home. Incredible!
As a note to myself and anyone else finding a lost dog – put up tons of posters along potential routes home. Even if we think the dog is totally lost and will never be able to find their way home, we have to remember their incredible senses and abilities. We will all sleep better tonight knowing Olive is safe and sound.
