The Freestyle Weekend is Over

The Freestyle Weekend is Over

Saturday and Sunday we spent the whole day at The Poodle Farm competing. On Saturday, Tyson placed 2nd in Novice B, and Delilah placed 2nd in Beginner’s B off leash. On Sunday we had a repeat performance both dogs placed 2nd in their divisions. I was super proud of both of them for working so hard and couldn’t believe that we also won a cash prize totally $120. Plus Tyson won an award for the best work on two hind legs. Delilah won an award for the best starting position. Videos will be posted on WCFO (World Canine Freestyle Organization) and hopefully I can post it here as well. The quality of all the performances were outstanding and we are truly inspired to continue to practice. Even the judge was impressed and said, “these were not just tricks to music, but actual choreographed routines – what real freestyle should be about.” One of my favourite highlights was when the bulldog Pudge attempted to do a rollover and got stuck halfway. There were lots of spectators that came out to the show. Cassandra Hartman made sure to get the message across the freestyle can ONLY be taught with Positive Reinforcement training. Yes, that means CLICKERS, TREATS and NO CORRECTIONS! Emily’s already started sending me some moves to steal for my next routine. Check out http://www.sdcaninefreestylers.com/
I’m giving my dogs a little break from all the hard work but I can’t wait to start prepping for the next routine.
